Baby Book - Baby Star
by Vanessa Savundra
A BOOK ABOUT BABIES FOR BABIES. UNIQUELY ILLUSTRATED IN A HIGH CONTRAST FORMAT FOR BABIES.
One of the strongest early predictors of positive learning and development outcomes in longitudinal research studies is whether or not the child is read to by their caregivers in their formative years. Within the chaos of parenting a newborn, the simple act of reading to a child invites a moment of calm and establishes the routine of bedtime reading right from the very beginning of life. The exhaustion of the day can retreat while you cuddle a sleepy infant and read to them as one of the night time rituals that may remain constant throughout their childhood. Reading not only leads to positive learning outcomes and healthy development for the child, it also supports strong attachment and bonding for the parent-child dyad too and creates a feeling of security and belonging from which a happy childhood stems.
- Dr Monique Robinson PhD MPsych (Clin), Psychologist
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Vanessa dreamt of becoming a teacher from a young age, driven by a love for working with young children and nurturing their development. Growing up in Perth, her childhood was filled with creative pursuits, particularly poetry and a deep appreciation for literature.
She earned a teaching degree from Edith Cowan University, honing her skills to inspire and educate future generations with a strong interest in early childhood development.
Family plays a central role in her life, as she shares her journey with a supportive husband, three children and two dogs. Together, they enjoy the enriching experiences of travel, the joy of reading and music and cherished moments with family and friends. Given that the story is based on her experience with her newborn and the fact that her children have illustrated the book – the pages are literally filled with love and family.
